David Leong ('68 TWGSS graduate) immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1968. He graduated from California State
University, LA with a B.A. degree in Economics and started working with the County of Los Angeles (LA) at the age of 22. While
working with the County, he attended graduate courses during two week nights and Saturdays and completed his Masters degree in
Public Administration at University of Southern California (USC) in two years. In September 2009, David retired from the LA County
after thirty-seven years of outstanding public services.
Now he enjoys traveling with his wife Mee Jin. Currently, he lectures at Cal Poly Pomona, and Cal Sate Dominguez Hills on an on-call basis.
He is also volunteering in the City of Arcadia Community Center two days a week. During his vacation in Hong Kong in 2008, David found
out that Hayward Ng, a '67 TWGSS graduate has been residing in San Gabriel which is adjacent to City of Arcadia where he resides.
They got reconnected after thirty some years of living in LA! David particpated in the Chinese New Year Reunion on February 16, 2010
San Gabriel when a '66/'68 TWGSS graduate Marianna Ng Fun visited LA.
Alex P. Cheng, (TWGSS '66/'68) who has been updating all the reunion photos for TWGSS discovered David
in one of the reunion photos and they got reconnected through multiple e-mails communication. In September 1968, Alex went abroad
to study Electrical Engineering at California State University, Chico, CA. After graduation, he went to join his mother, brother
and sister in Venezuela in 1973. He has worked for the Ministry of Transport and Commuications (MTC) as a Roadway Lighting Engieer for
ten years (1976-1986) prior to his return to graduate school in 1987. He graduated in 1990 from Penn State University with a M.S. degree in
Architectural Engineering with a specialization in Illumination. Currently, he works as a Lighting Engineer for the
Department of Public Works & Environmental Services (DPWES) , County of Fairfax, Virginia.
Taking advantage of their time, David & his wife after their 7-day New England/Canada Cruise from New York, they took the Megabus
to Washington. D.C. They visited Alex for four days after forty-two years of departure from TWGSS. David, Alex and their wives
enjoyed the reunion touring the Luray Cavern, National Air & Space Museum (Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center) in Dulles, the United States
Capital, Library of Congress and the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. (District of Columbia)
On September 13, 2010, David Leong (TWGSS '68), his wife Mee Jin, Alex Cheng (TWGSS '66/'68) & his wife Jenny toured the U.S. Capital, the Libray of Congress and the Botanic Garden.
